Biography:
Sons of Alpha Centauri are
an instrumental stoner rock band residing in the
Thames Gateway Swale area. Formed on the hottest
day of July 2001 by Nick Hannon and Marlon King
the project initiated to pioneer alternative riff
rock and encapsulate genres from classic rock
though to avant-garde experimentation.
The
duo wrote 25 tracks before contacting drummer
Stevie B. and Andrew Blake to deliver textures,
tape manipulations, samples and atmospheric ambience.
This completed their line up in spring 2004. Tracks
were composed as numbers (to correspond to their
chronological order) and instrumental from onset.
‘Sons
of Alpha Centauri’ are an equal opportunities
rock band and are not associated with any ideologies
other than their own. The project is self-reinforced
and sustained working in liaison with multiple
artists to contribute ideas, projections and theories.
Conceptual art and landscape photography have
been by composed by individuals within the band
for both live-set visualisation and artistic impressions.
The
debut ‘Sons of Alpha Centauri’ twelve-track
concept release consisting of a selection of the
live studio recordings from the first 35 movements
is due out winter 2007.
