BIOGRAPHY:

The master of 20th century music, Arnold Schoenberg, declared the "liberation of the dissonance" to be essential for the progress of music as an art form. Nowhere is this currently more apparent than in the world of metal, and other extreme music. Ehnahre wholly embraces that philosophy, and it consummately informs their music.

Ryan McGuire, D.J. Murray, and John Carchia have been playing together since they first picked up their instruments over 12 years ago. They played in various grouping early on, but went on to work with other bands, in different locales, playing many different styles... But in 2003 they came back together to play for Kayo Dot, where they would meet drummer Tom Malone. After several mismanaged tours, and personal disagreements, all four members left the band. However, the musical bond formed could not be dismissed, and warranted continuing on with a new project. The lineup was then rounded out with the addition of guitarist Andrew Hock, formerly of the band Biolich.

Using a disorienting, dissonant three-guitar instrumentation and loose improvisational rhythm, Ehnahre has been compared in texture, rhythm and structure to Morbid Angel, Portal, and Harvey Milk among others.

The Man Closing Up is a through-composed, singular piece of music, divided into five sections. These five "songs" are intrinsically linked, through text, form, and motivic material. The music is based on the poetry of Donald Justice. The dark and lonely imagery of the work informs the music, as well as the illustration of oceanic themes. The words and music become closely related, carefully intertwined through elements of form and text painting. Guest musicians include an array of instrumentation ranging from emotional melodic vocals from Boston's own Jonah Jenkins (Only Living Witness, Raw Radar War) to violin from J Mark Inman (the Informati) and trumpet from Greg Kelley (nmperign) and Forbes Graham (ex-Kayo Dot). Rounding out the album is Greg Massi (ex-Kayo Dot) on guitar and the voice of Noell Dorsey (Beautiful Weekend). Full line up and instrumentation listed below.

As for the actual composition, the majority of the music began as combinatorial twelve-tone music, sometimes to remain true to it's serial genesis, sometimes to wander to other regions of atonality. Elements of free improvisation also find their way into the music, adding an element of abandon, and the unknown. With this album, The Man Closing Up, Ehnahre bring an altered, twisted vision of the poetry to a musical realization, a musical vision of a darkened heart in a world of indifference and delusion.

The album was rounded off by Nick Zampiello (ISIS, Old Man Gloom, Mare, etc) mastering The Man Closing Up at New Alliance East Studios. The Man Closing Up on CD is scheduled for a retail release date of 22nd September worldwide. The 2xLP version will be released in the New Year. Ehnahre are currently booking dates worldwide in support of the album.
