Release Description:
Decaying cathedrals. The march at twilight towards a sure death. Infested soil. Millions of decrepit bones in an eternal sleep. Surrounded by shrapnel, rusty bullets and locusts. Cries still echo in the barren fields, remaining unheard by today's deaf society. It's on this soil that the great war came to an end. It's from this soil that a band arose that embraces this past, this pain, this blasphemy.

And so, 'Mass III' is born. Far outstripping the Church of Ra's previous recorded attempts, the opus finally captured their stunning live sound and caustic emotion, cementing Amenra as one of the most important bands in the alternative heavy music scene at the moment.

'Mass III' will infest your mind like a lingering cancer, bound to spit out your soul like a shriveled, yellowed husk, leaving you on a morphine drip in a side ward of the local psychiatric hospital. And that's just the beginning.

OK folks, I know perfectly this isn’t a recent release but we just received it as promo copy and I’ll use this chance to thank again (and all Greek fans must) Venerate Industries for all their very hard tries to distribute interesting music in our “traditional metal” country, anyway, the few know!

AMEN RA delivers a brilliant, from every point of view, mini-album. “Mass III” crawls somewhere between “Through Silver In Blood” of NEUROSIS, “Celestial” of ISIS, the first CULT OF LUNA albums and KNUT’s slow moments. To be more poetic and descriptive, this shit is laden with heavy guitars, huge riffs, an aura that makes you asphyxiate and bitter, aggressive intentions. The shredding vocals add more power to this already dynamic presence and the “unholy” layout offers a very attractive black metal aesthetic to the visual aspect of the band’s music. It’s obvious that AMEN RA don’t feel comfortable just learning their lessons by the aforementioned bands well, since with “Mass III” they prove that they surpass the level of “good students”. They offer great music and add their own little something to the history of the genre. The opening track “The Pain It Is Shapeless” is a perfect example.

Yes, I know this particular scene became too busy in the last years and that’s not always a good thing. We’ve seen many other scenes become boring and uninteresting for that reason. But with works such as the new CALLISTO, MOUTH OF THE ARCHITECT, TRANSMISSION 0 and of course, “Mass III” from AMEN RA, only the opposite happens. Stronger ever year.
